Helmet - Month 2 - Done!

Kellen had his second re-measure on his head today, and the helmet is definitely working!  The first time we had him scanned, his head was definitely shaped like a parallelogram and the orthotist said he was in the severe range with a cranial vault asymmetry (CVA) of 13.1 mm.  Cranial vault asymmetry is just a fancy way of saying the difference between the measurements of the two diagonals of the head.

Because Kellen's head was shaped like this (although not quite as severe), he had one diagonal (diagonal B) that was definitely longer than (diagonal A).  The orthotist said that anything over 10 mm is considered severe.  By Kellen's first monthly re-measure, it had gone from 13.1 to 11.7, but that was only a decrease of less than 2 which the orthotist said is average.
But today, we went in after having it on for 2 months, and it was down to 8.3 mm.  Not only did it go down by 2.4 mm in a month, but is also no longer in the severe range.  You can also notice a definite visual difference in the shape of his head when you look at him from above.  So, I guess he'll keep wearing it 23 hours a day, at least for another month and then we'll see if he's still making progress.

I have to say with the exception of it being stinky and Kellen not being able to enjoy being outside because of the heat, it hasn't been all that bad.  He's never acted like it bothers him.  I will be glad when I get to snuggle him and not get bashed in the face with it.  I miss being able to give him kisses!
